Real Life: busy busy busy!!! Brain is all twirling and chaotic. Nothing bad, just lots to do and think and being productive...argh!

VidUKon:...it was (let me reinstate it) a wonderful con! But I haven't finished typing up my notes yet *hides in shame* not giving up on posting a report, just taking ages to get round to it :(

Latest SPN: in general, it was for me quite a good episode, and I loved the music :D BUT...spoilers in case you haven't seen it yet )

Came back yesterday from Cardiff, where [info]vidukon happened! It was pretty much amazing, and I'll put up a report asap/in the next few days:)

There was much squee, old vids, new vids, vidding panels (for vidders and non-vidders alike) and lovely people :D
There are plans to organise a third VIDUKON in two years time, so if you're interested in a songvid-based convention in the UK, please keep an eye on the con community :)

Everything else is fine, I'm just tired-tired-tired: end of term coincided with the con, so the past week has been intense.

But! Since the con was in Cardiff, I had some Torchwood-squee moments, stood near the fountain-thingy, walked along the docks, etc etc, aaaaand visited the Ianto Memorial (spontaneous collections of pics and writing made by fans). It was touching :)

hugs to all, vid-con report soon :)

Having the longest flu ever ...(oh I hate the flu/cold, it turnes my brain into complete mush! And my nose is so sore...:(

BUT!

Was watching the film Jonah hex, and guess who pops up unexpectedly (he's also uncredited)?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan!
Just a small part, but still significant, and oh but it was a joy seeing him :D

Hope you're all well!

Just browsing around quickly, I went to see a atheatre show yesterday (something based on Dickens' ghost stories), which was okay fun (love the theatre in principle), but then going back home I fell - the pavement's fault, I didn't see see the huge hole! - no big harm, but I messed up my right calf muscles/tendons.

Grrr.

Anyway, downloading SPN as I type.

Co-living is...interesting. Better than I thought on the practical level (easier, I mean). On the personal/intimate...uhm. I don't know. There's a strange 'distance' there. I'm not worried, just...I don't know. He's sincerely affectionate, but distant at the same time?

Maybe it's just me and one of my moodytimes :)

There's just so much to do!
Okay, my time on LJ is done (I'm afraid for the day). Hugs to all!

Just a quick note to say....I've managed not to watch this film until now (18 or so years later?) and not to read the book.
I cried like a baby. It's like King Kong (watched the original once, the black and white, and never after that first time, it broke my heart).
This one kind of broke my heart too.
Basically, the last 10 or so are one of the most intense scenes I've ever watched.
I'll watch it again (and yes, I'm aware of a number of issues, but filmic wise, the power of images and music to convey so much emotion, such intensity...)

I'm all shivers.

Have you watched it? Recently, at the time? Liked, disliked?

TV watch

Bedlam ep2
still liking it, still watching it, still giving me that dose of TV horror I like (which I use to get from SPN, sigh)
more here )

SPN latest ep (6.14 I think?) Haven't read anyone's comments yet!

I haven't watched Outcasts past ep. 2, lack of time :(
And I missed Glee. Oh well.

In other news, thank you so much all of you for your support, I was really panicking the other day: your words did help a lot, THANK YOU. Will settle down, hopefully :) Fact is, TartanMan is sort of a stray-cat, with all the baggage of strays. But he's also lovely (to me anyway ;)

But thank you thank you thank you, ljers: you are wonderful :)

Now, I'm off to assemble a temporary thing for clothes storage AND research Victorian letter writing. Tere will be Batman Lego playing later :)

EEEEEEEKKK!

My partner (TartanMan or KiltBoy) is moving in! With me! In these next coupe of days!

I mean, I'm ecstatic about it, but also...PANIC!
I just didn't expect it so suddenly, from one day to the other. I made it clear I liked the idea (heck, the first thing I've done when I had the house keys was to make a copy and give it to him)...but in his typically bear-like ways, his hints at things changing were just that....hints!

I repeat...EEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!

PANIC PANIC PANIC

*breathes into bag*

Nope, doesn't work... PANIC!

And yes, inside I'm probably smiling. But right now Panic is foremost, LOL

Happy birthday to [info]deathisyourart! :D
We don't talk much, and practically at all lately cause I'm not around as much as I used to, but you're a great person and I enjoy your posts :D

Haven't watched the latest SPN yet (later tonight) so I'm not reading comments, sorry. I try to stay spoilerless now my love for the show has faded, so I enjoy the most of it :)

In RL, I'm very busy learning about Graphic Fiction and Its Mysterious Ways: it's fascinating, and I love writing scripts, I just wish there were no essays due, and instead there are :D

Hugs for all!

Outcasts ep2

I didn't like it as much as yesterday...can't say exactly why. It felt..reduced in scope. And I want more Mitchell, I guess. But I want to know what happens next. Besides, Eric Mabius is always a pleasure to watch :)

Bedlam ep1

Ohhhhh, niiiiiice :) I like basic, classic horro themes, and I didn't hate any of the main characters (even though the characters are all very much stereotypes). Will Young is extremely cute, and is it slash I foresee? Perhaps. I liked it and will make sure to watch next episodes. It gives me, horror-wise, a similar vibe to first series SPN. Which is good :)

What did you think?

Apart from that, I played Lego Batman lots today. Because today was one of those days.

Outcasts: cool! :)

Well, for the moment, it looks like a solid, enjoyable sci-fi serial! Yay \0/
I truly enjoyed, looking forward to see ep2. However...
question! )

That said, thanks TPTB for plus1 channels, cause I'm now off to watch the Rocky Horror Glee-fied :DDD

And she would have been 79. With a mind of steel, I tell you.
When I was falling asleep last night, I heard her voice saying 'goodnight'.
And I smile when I see a rainbow, because I think she's smiling at me.

Watched SPN latest episode, and it was almost as good as the old ones! :)
Nice to see Sammy back. Nice for once not to be annoyed at Bobby! It's realistic he'd feel unconfortable.

I also watched the first three ep of The Walking Dead, I've read a dozen of the comics and it looks quite good to me (and zombieful!).

Looking forward to watch Glee's Rocky Horror episode :)

I'm very tired these days, so I keep up with Uni, and browse the F-list, but don't do much else.
I do wish there was a new show I could fall for (and yes, I like TVD enough, but not enough)...oh well :)

Went to see The Green Hornet 3D and watched Black Swan. The first was silly fun, the second...intense and fragile and quite good.

Blaaahhh:D hugs for everyone :)

In a totally frivolous aside...I'm a shoe addict. I own at last count 40plus pairs of shoes. Yes, some I have had for 20 years (true!) and I counted flipflops and ballerinas, but still.

I really need to have a good tidy up, and no, I would never spend this kind of money, and also, some of these are quite ugly, imo, but some other? I just drool.

Plus, how cool is it they have a 'share' button which includes LJ? (and other 300+ social networking systems! eek!)

Slept 13 hours straight: BLISS!

No, really, my sleeping patterns have gone to Hell and Back (and not in the exciting Supernatural way) in the past couple of months, so this is momentous :)

And, watching Pros (Bodie all beaten up by terrorists, poor thing, and Doyle all a-running after the bomb strapped to his back...) as I work on an abridgement*, this is BLISS, too :)

*which I really like, btw, I didn't think I would, but I do, and I hope to get some more eventually, and paid ones at that, lol.

In scattered order...

  • No Supernatural!!! GRRRRRRRRR.

  • Watched True Grit, The Fighter, The King's Speech: all enjoyable films for different reasons. Firth should get an Oscar, I think, he was amazing, with the stuttering and all.

  • Egypt???? What the Heck??? *worries for people* (note to self: watch the news now and then. Read a newspaper. Listen to the radio. Something!)

  • Knitting to restart soon. I need something to do with my hands.

  • Any PS3 gamer out there willing to suggest good games to play? For good, I mean games where you do more than just kill anything on sight.

  • Melissa Scott is planning more Points fiction! More Eslingen and Rathe and Astriant! Oh Joy! Here on her LJ.

Now, maybe, perchance, hopefully, to sleep....

24th-Jan-2011 06:37 pm - fanfiction vs. profiction
not dead 'm writing
Just a couple of thoughts jotted here...

I am PROUD, immensely proud of the fanfiction I wrote, the slash, the smut, the rp writing threads: I treasure it.
And I miss writing it. I miss it a lot. I just have limited energy and for the time being I have to be strict with what I do, 'cause I can't do much.
But I will write fanfiction again, it's a promise I make to myself most of all, because the feeling of it, it's amazing and unique.
And the sharing, sharing the characters we all love, that's amazing and unique too.

I'm happy about finally testing myself at profiction, fingers crossed it goes well, but it's not better, just different. It's a different type of writing, not easier or more difficult, just different. And that's why I miss fanfiction, because profiction - in as much as I like it - doesn't 'connect' as fanfiction does. The community is not there.

And I think that's really important.
